LogCheck™

The CRTC Log Reporting System

"Fast-Accurate Logs"

What are the system requirements to run LogCheck?

LogCheck can run on any Windows-based computer. We recommend at least 128 megs of RAM and about 5 megs of free disk space.
LogCheck also successfully runs under Citrix and other network based systems.
An email connection is required for system help and reporting of "bugs".
An Internet connection is required for automatic updating of the program and CRTC files. If no Internet connection is available arrangements can be made for delivery of these files via email.

What traffic systems will LogCheck work with?

LogCheck is designed to be traffic system independent. It will operate with any traffic system that is capable of producing a CRTC submission log.

How does the CRTC information get from my traffic system to LogCheck?

LogCheck operates on the file that your traffic system produces for submission to the CRTC. Simply save the file as a text file (*.txt) or a log file (*.log) or a zip file (*.zip) to a convenient directory (folder) and open the file in LogCheck.

What if I need help understanding how to use LogCheck?

LogCheck comes with a full on-line manual as well as a context sensitive pop-up help system. In addition the help menu includes a menu item to immediately send an email asking for help.
One of the most important aspects of LogCheck is that it is designed to be used as a tool to help you check and correct logs. The user interface is simple and intuitive. Most users can be up and running within minutes and require a minimum of support.
In fact, as users have required assistance for particular aspects of using LogCheck, the program has been re-designed to make it more "user friendly". This is an on-going process and any complaints and/or confusion are immediately corrected.

The philosophy behind all Davies and Company software is that if you really need a manual, the program is badly designed!

What happens when the CRTC announces new or revised rules?

LogCheck is updated whenever the CRTC changes their logging rules. As most traffic managers know, these changes come in two forms: from a Public Notice announcing changes and from "new" items showing up in error reports.
If new rules apply only to logs beginning with a certain date (as happened in September, 2000) LogCheck will apply the new rules only to those "new" logs.
As users report "bugs" or new errors not being caught by LogCheck, the program is updated immediately.

How do I get updates for the program?

Program updates are handled through the internet in much the same way as updates for Windows. When LogCheck is installed, there is a LogCheck Update program installed along with it. The program will analyze all of the files used by LogCheck and then connect through the internet to ensure that you have the most current version of all files.
